Week 3. June 23-27
The 2025 Summer Circus and Academic program has had a third week filled with fun and creativity! Our third week of program focused on building skills and getting show ready! We came into the week incredibly inspired after our Circus Bella Fieldtrip where some students performed “Higher Ground”, a tribute to the African Roots of stilt dancing.

Our third week focused on storytelling and skill building. We began qualifying our circus tricks in preparation for show casting. Qualifying a circus skill means that a student can perform it well enough to perform it in a show. It takes rigorous practice, patience, and focus to develop a skill strong enough to perform under pressure. Throughout the week, we had students qualifying on stilting, flower sticks, unicycle, and with their juggling!
This week, Coach Damari and Coach Coicoi led unicycle practice!
Coach Cesar and Guest Artist, Coach Judy led juggling!
Coach Derique led Hambone body percussion practice and presented on the history and significance of Juneteenth.
Ms. Sparkle led academic lessons on the cultural connections of circus arts.
Guest Artist, Ms. Carla led hip hop dance practice!
Junior Coaches and our intern Yaya supported students with skill building and led games and activities!

Reminders:
- Students need to wear appropriate clothes for circus activities each day including socks and closed-toe shoes that cover the entire foot for stilts and unicycle.
- If your child won’t be attending or is running late, please let us know so we can plan accordingly.
- Nutrition is important! Please send your child to program with lunch if they do not like the school meals.
- Call us anytime you have a question or needs.
