LEARN!
The WOYCC, now in its fourth year, is a partnership between Prescott Circus Theatre and Kinetic Arts Center that builds bridges among East Bay youth from different socio-economic and racial backgrounds through circus arts training and performance.

In 2021, for the first time in the organizations’ histories, KAC Artistic Director, Katherine Hutchinson, and then PCT Performing Company Manager, Carolina Duncan-Page, facilitated reciprocal skill exchanges among students and staff from each program. This naturally led to deepening the engagement through bringing students together to create and perform an original show.

This is the first known time that any Bay Area youth circus organizations have come together to collaborate in such a way. The WOYCC is building methods for circus and performing arts programs to facilitate and expand understanding, belonging, and skill building among youth from different backgrounds – exercising and building our shared capacity to live, love, create, and thrive in a multicultural world.

The budget to produce the 2025 WOYCC show is small ~$10,000 (split between companies).  Most of the expenses are payroll for coaches, choreographers and a small production staff.  Kinetic Arts Center donates the rehearsal and performance space. Each company pays their own coach wages.  The show is free to the public.

We are seeking financial support and volunteers to produce this year’s production. Below is list of where we could use help.

  • Coaches Fees. Cost:  $4,800.00

Consider sponsoring a special guest coach ($1,000 – $1500 per day), currently salaried coaches from each company (~$ 2,500 ) or the cost to pay the production staff (~$1,000).

  •  WOYCC 2025 T-shirts.  Cost:  $525.00

Our annual program and year specific T’s are used as costumes for the show and provides a sense of pride in involvement in individual performers.

  • Breakfast and Lunches for Saturday, 11/8 and Sunday, 11/19. Cost:  $600.00 ($250 each)

Meals (with vegan and vegetarian options) for about 35 (mostly hungry teens) people.  They love pizza and salad, bagels and muffins, assorted snacks and juices, hot dogs and hamburgers, pasta and fruit. Sponsor a single meal or two ~ $250 per meal.

  • Coffee and beverages for adults. Cost: $50.00

Hot-pots from local coffee shops are dreamy for kid wranglers and circus coaches alike.

Volunteer Needs

  • Provide Cast Party and/or After-Show Community Dinner.  Family, friends and participants share a final meal as a wrap up to the production.
  • Volunteer to be the Pie Car Manager – organize and manage meals throughout the project.  Help us keep everyone fed.
