PCT One of First A.C.E. Recognized U.S. Social Circus Programs

The American Circus Educators Association just announced its launch of the AYCO Social Circus Network and Social Circus Recognition program. Social Circus is the application of instructional techniques from circus arts to help “accelerate desired outcomes in youth development, therapeutic, or community development settings.” Prescott Circus Theatre Director, David Hunt, served alongside other youth circus program directors from around the country to consultant in the development of the program.  Jessica Hentoff of Circus Harmony (St. Louis, MO), Zoe Brooks of Trenton Circus Squad (Trenton, New Jersey), and Amy Christian of Wise Fool (Santa Fe, New Mexico) were the three other consulting directors and whose programs have been the first to be recognized under the A.C.E. program. The program is designed to help grow the social circus sector, recognize and promote best practices, and bring more awareness to funders and potential partners to support this work.

The American Circus Educators Association was formed in 2014 as a branch of the American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO) and is dedicated to supporting circus educators. “ACE is the trusted authority when it comes to all things circus education and is the primary source in the United States for professional development, networking, and information about circus education for anyone identifying as a circus parent, teacher, educator, coach, program director, or administrator.”
